i was born in sapporo, japan and came to the

united states in 1995.  i began to study pottery making in 1998 and

developed an award-winning signature style.

i characterize my work as “diminutive stoneware”.  i favor soft,

understated glazing – influenced by the traditional wood-fired pottery in japan.

i enjoy mixing glazes to achieve unique blends of color and pattern.

all of my work speaks with one voice yet each individual pot expresses

something unique.  i have traveled extensively in japan visiting the ancient

kiln sites of imbe, echizen, shigaraki, and mashiko among others.

i have received art training in the united states at cuyahoga community

college.  my studio is located on the 6th floor in the artcraft building near

downtown cleveland, ohio.
